Spice up you cam, with Webcammax!

So as you know, we are having our first live show in a few weeks and I wanted something to "spice" up the webcam we will be using, so I did some looking around and found something fun.

It's called Webcam Max and that is what it did for us here at Tech"Know" Podcast.

It's a fun little program where you can add a variety of effects over your webcam.

    So what can it do?:
    • Transform: apply Distorting Mirror, Fire, Mosaic, Line, Color, Snow or Water to your video show
    • Mask: wear all kinds of glasses and hats, or change your hair style, or even pretend to be a famous people
    • Background: Change your background to the place you like
    • Frame: add some Frame to make your video cooler
    • Emotion: use smiley’s you like to express your feeling better
    • Text: type what you want to say on the video box directly
    • Customize effects properties: change the effect's color, position, size, speed and etc.
    • Create your own effects: Just follow the guide and it's really easy and fun
Now, what can it do well:

Well, really it does everything as advertised. However, if you’re looking for a super high end program, this is not it.

However if you want something easy; get this, but make sure you have a good enough computer. I have a Pentium 4 3.07GHz and 1Gig of Ram and I have had it freeze on me when I am using some effects, like masks, as well as when I am doing screen capture mode.

About the cost: it is $19.95 for six months, $29.95 for one year, $39.95 for two years or the best deal, $49.95 for a lifetime of use.
So what programs does it work with?
    • MSN
    • Yahoo Messenger
    • Camfrog
    • YouTube
    • ICQ
    • AIM
    • Skype
    • Paltalk
    • ANYwebcam
    • Stickam
    • Ustream
    • All others
Another thing I love about this is the Picture in Picture mode where you can choose your main source and a PIP source that will appear in a corner of the webcam, so you can talk about a movie while its playing.
So over all, for me I'll give it a 4 out of 5 but that's because of the crashing and freezing on my computer. But that is just my computer. If you plan to broadcast or you just want to have fun over chats like MSN or Skype this is a cheap program to use.

Want to give it a try click here

    Thanks,
    Tech"Know" Team

    Not Tech, but important.

We here at Tech"Know" will always remember Sept. 11th 2001 and this is our tribute to that day and those people who lost there lives and helped in anyway.

    Ohhhhh Shiny

Google had a big Labor Day announcement stating that the company would launch at beta version of its “Chrome” web browser in more than 100 countries on Tuesday. Google thinks so and hopes to outshine all other web browsers with a new browser that has been designed from scratch with a purpose not only to display text and pictures but to run applications. Google claims that Chrome can do this faster and in a more stable and more secure way than its rivals.

" Because we spend so much time online, we began seriously thinking about what kind of browser could exist if we started from scratch and built on the best elements out there. We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that's what we set out to build." Google said in there blog.

"To most people, it isn't the browser that matters. It's only a tool to run the important stuff -- the pages, sites and applications that make up the web. Like the classic Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean and fast. It gets out of your way and gets you where you want to go."

"By keeping each tab in an isolated "sandbox", we were able to prevent one tab from crashing another and provide improved protection from rogue sites. We improved speed and responsiveness across the board. We also built a more powerful JavaScript engine, V8, to power the next generation of web applications that aren't even possible in today's browsers."

"We owe a great debt to many open source projects, and we're committed to continuing on their path. We've used components from Apple's WebKit and Mozilla's Firefox, among others -- and in that spirit, we are making all of our code open source as well. We hope to collaborate with the entire community to help drive the web forward."

Then Google updated the post at 3:30 PM and added a comic book explaining Google Chrome. That can be found here. There is more information on the blog post here, but I did not want to copy the whole thing.

That's all for now, we know that it will be up to download the Beta sometime tomorrow.

But in this High-Tech world do we really need another browser we have so many to choose from on both Mac and PC there is Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Opera. As well as ones that are as well known like Maxthon.

So what do we think here at Tech"Know" Podcast, we love it. We have many different types of computers here so we use most browsers under the sea, well that makes no sense, browsers under the sea. Oh I got it, we use most browsers under the satellite.

Well anyway, if Google makes it we welcome it.

    Thanks as always,

PSP 3000 and other Playstaion news!

OK, just some Sony PlayStation news.

They made an official announcement that they're releasing the "PSP 3000" Sony officially unveiled the PSP 3000 Wednesday at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany. It is going to come out October 14th, 2008 in North America.

We wrote something about this earlier . And most of everything in that article is correct.

Here are the changes according to the press conference:

    - An anti-reflective screen, "which enables users to see the screen more clearly in well-lit places, even when used outdoors."

    - Also according to Engadget Japan (as translated by PSPfanboy) Sony has apparently also doubled the response time, improved the contrast ratio, and bumped up the color gamut. That could be a selling point.

    - A built-in microphone, which will allow users to use voice features in certain games and use the PSP's built-in Skype functionality.

    - The addition of 480i output for game play when the PSP is connected to a TV screen via a composite or S-Video cable.

As before it will come in all three colors, Piano Black, Sliver, and White. There will also be "packs" like before.

Ratchet & Clank PSP Entertainment Pack will now include the following:
    • Mystic Silver PSP-3000
    • Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
    • National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets UMD
    • echochrome PSN voucher
    • 1GB Memory Stick PRO duo
The PSP 4GB Memory Entertainment Pack. The will launch in November for $199.99 as well. It includes:
    • Piano Black PSP-3000
    • 4GB Memory Stick PRO duo
    • Everyday Shooter PSN voucher
The Piano Black PSP-3000 will be sold separately later this year as a PSP Core Pack, which includes only an AC adapter and battery pack for $169.99.

    Now for pictures:

    Also

Sony has announced a 160GB PS3 that will hit stores in November for $500. The limited-edition system will also include the rumble DualShock 3 controller and two games: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and (via a voucher for the PlayStation Store) Pain.

However based off the Spec Sheet this would just be the core PS3 with a bigger HDD. That means no built-in flash card reader, and no backward compatibility with PS2 games.

I think you would be better off buy the cheap, or soon to be cheaper after the price drop which will go into effect this September, 80GB and getting a new 2.5in Hard Drive. But that us we love breaking warranties and taking tech apart.

    Also again

Sony announce a wireless keypad for the PS3 that will make web browsing and typing a little easier. The keypad snaps onto your wireless controller and not only acts as a keyboard for typing but also comes with a feature that turns the main key area into a track pad for users to use the keypad as a mouse. There’s also two short cut buttons on the keypad that will enable users to jump directly to the XMB’s “Friends” icon and the “Message Box” during game play. The Wireless Keypad is set to launch in late November.

Rumor: A 'design sample' of the PSP-3000

Someone on PSPChina forums said that this is the new PSP design model:

Now I don't know if its true of not, I hope not I just got my GoW PSP,

    Anyway here whats new:
The only new addition so far is a built-in microphone, but otherwise the size and shape is the same as the PSP-2000
The Home button has been replaced by a PlayStation logo button just like the PS3 controller
The size of the metal ring has been reduced, allegedly to reduce scratches on it
There is a hole in the center of the Volume buttons, that's the mic

The poster claims he doesn't know the actual model number of the this PSP -- it could be a PSP-2100 or 3000 or something else entirely. "The pictures are actually of a design sample; whenever a new system is to be created, designers will follow Sony's instructions in creating several different versions. This is one of the versions that was created and then discarded. Next year when we buy this PSP, it will be slightly different, but I believe the microphone and smaller metal ring will remain."

Another set of pictures shows a black version of this so-called PSP-3000. The PlayStation button is slightly rounder and larger. The poster admits that the final design of real PSP-3000, or whatever the model number happens to be, is still unclear. Basically, even if everything this poster says is true, what we'll be seeing on store shelves might look completely different, assuming there is even a redesign in the works.

    Here are some more Pic:
